Background & History
The French 75 cocktail celebrates the firepower of the WWI French 75 millimeter field gun. The drink dates to World War I, and an early form was created in 1915 at the New York Bar in Paris—later Harry’s New York Bar—by barman Harry MacElhone. We decided to give this cocktail a twist – dubbing it the “Frenchie 75” after another one of our canine office regulars, Maverick the Frenchie!
